PCAB Accreditation

As the demand for compounded medications increased, the pharmacy profession saw a need for an enhanced, profession-wide system of standards by which each compounding pharmacy can test its quality processes. Compounding pharmacists also wanted a mechanism to allow them to know that their quality is high and that their patients are as safe as possible. PCAB Accreditation gives patients and prescribers a way to select a pharmacy that meets high quality standards.

Every pharmacy seeking accreditation must signify acceptance of the Prinicples of Compounding as set forth by PCAB.

As part of the Rules and Terms, a Pharmacy must pledge adherence to the PCAB® Principles of Compounding. Pharmacists are among the most trusted professionals for a reason. PCAB® urges all Accredited Pharmacies not just to agree, but to read and study; post for all to see; and take the Principles of Compounding seriously. As part of its commitment to ethical pharmacy practices, PCAB® has adopted the Code of Ethics of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
